Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan admits growing up a Liverpool fan.
The Potters are at Anfield today.
"As a young boy I was actually a Liverpool fan, my dad was Man United!
"I had a cousin who was a couple of years older than me, he was Liverpool and I hung around with him. If he was Liverpool, I was too," Whelan told The Sentinel.
"There was a fierce rivalry in our house.
"I went to Anfield a few times as a kid, we'd come over on the boat. I'd try and get in as many games as possible.
"I was in the family stand, I used to take in the atmosphere and I've been there for a couple of Champions' League games over the years. I've experienced Anfield under lights and that's always good.
"But it'll be different on Saturday. I don't think I'll be a fan any more then."
