The Staffordshire club pulled off a major coup on Tuesday after securing the services of Shaqiri from Inter Milan on a five-year deal for a club record £12million, and the arrival of the Swiss superstar has certainly excited the Potters' supporters.
Former Stoke star Hudson, who arrived in Staffordshire from Chelsea to much fanfare back in 1974, also cannot contain his excitement over the arrival of Shaqiri and has stated his belief that the 23-year old will be loved by the club faithful.
Hudson told the Stoke Sentinel: "Absolutely. Stoke fans have loved their better players over the years and they will particularly love this guy if he starts delivering in and around the penalty area.
"Mark Hughes was a great striker himself in his day and he knows the game is all about strikers who can hit the back of the net. I've seen the new fella and he can help Stoke when it comes to scoring goals and creating chances."
