Stoke keeper Butland intent on starting role with England

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is aiming to become England's number one goalkeeper ahead of the Euro Championships this summer.

The 23-year-old, who has impressed with his form for the Potters this season, faces competition from Joe Hart of Manchester City and Fraser Forster of Southampton for a spot in Roy Hodgson's starting eleven for Euro2016.

Butland said: "I don't want to go to the Euros and not be a part of it, I want to go and play.

"Obviously I would be supportive of whoever is playing but for me it's obviously a target of mine to be England's number one.

"That can only happen if I'm playing well for Stoke, so that's my sole focus."
