Stoke stopper Asmir Begovic has vowed to keep the number one jersey his own for the start of next season. Begovic has filled in for the injured Thomas Sorensen for the past four outings after manager Tony Pulis saw his No.1 dislocate an elbow at Chelsea.
Stoke signed off the season with a 4-0 loss at title-chasing Manchester United on Sunday to finish 11th in the Premier League table.
The 22-year-old is already looking to future, though, and revealed his desire to keep his Danish counterpart on the bench.
Begovic told the Stoke Sentinell: "We both want to play, so we will see what happens over during the summer off-season and what the situation is when we come back for pre-season.
"My intention, like every player's, is to play. There is no secret there. But these are things other people will decide. I want to play but, if not, I will battle for the spot."
