Stoke forward Walters not getting carried with Ireland heroics

Jon Walters is refusing to get carried away despite Republic of Ireland's productive week in the European Championship qualifiers.

Ireland managed maximum points from their Euro2016 qualifying against Gibraltar and Georgia this week and their two victories allied by Scotland's consecutive defeats puts Martin O'Neill's men in a good position to make it into the finals in France next summer.

However, Walters is refusing to get carried away and has stated that Ireland still have a lot of work to do in order to seal qualification.

The Stoke City star said: "We knew what we needed, it was six points, and results have gone our way. Now we've got two massive games next month. We've got Poland who are just above us and Germany. We've done nothing yet. It's about qualifying and hopefully we get there in the end."
