Stoke face Brescia competition for West Ham midfielder Kovac

Stoke City face competition for West Ham United midfielder Radoslav Kovac.

The Daily Star says Kovac is at the centre of a tug of war between Stoke and Brescia.

Kovac has fallen down the pecking order at Upton Park since the arrival of German international Thomas Hitzlsperger this summer.

Italian side Brescia were the first to register an interest in the 30-year-old, who is understood to be available for £2.5m.

Their sporting director Gianluca Nani was on the backroom staff at West Ham when the Hammers signed Kovac and wants to be reunited with him.

But Potters boss Tony Pulis has also entered the race for the retired Czech international as he bids to reinforce his midfield.
