Stoke are close to appointing Gary Rowett as their new manager.

The 44 year-old is still under contract at Derby County.

But the Stoke Sentinel report that talks are underway between the two clubs that are believed to be positive.

Rowett is keen on taking over at bet365 Stadium after failing in the playoffs this season with the Rams.

He will become Stoke's third manager in four months, but only their fourth in 12 years.
