Stoke City chairman Peter Coates is happy with their market work this summer.
Coates believes it was important to make additions through the spine of the team after following up the signing of Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen with the deadline-day capture of Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi on a season-long loan.
He told The Sentinel: “It's well known that we wanted a striker, and that's happened. I think people also knew we were in for a defender, too, and that's happened as well and we are pleased with the man we've got.
“Joe Allen was also an important acquisition and I think everyone has been delighted with the start he has already made for us."
