Stoke cast eye over West Brom striker Berahino in Torquay friendly

Stoke City scouts were present as West Bromwich Albion were beaten by National League side Torquay United on Monday night.

The Potters are continuing to show significant interest in Baggies striker Saido Berahino who has been heavily linked with an Albion exit all summer.

It is understood that Mark Hughes remains keen on the 22-year-old but after another subpar performance from Albion, the West Midlands club may attempt to hold onto all the attacking help they can.

Berahino played the second 45 minutes in the 2-1 defeat at Plainmoor and although he looked lively, was unable to find an equaliser for the Baggies.

West Brom assistant Dave Kemp admits that things need to change up front for Tony Pulis' side and revealed that the hunt continues for a new striker.

"We're aware of our deficiencies but we're doing what we can to try and correct that situation," he said.

"We do lack quality around the opposition's goal, we're aware of that and we're trying to rectify that."

Report suggest that Albion have agreed a £16million fee for West Ham United's Diafra Sakho while they continue to check on other attacking options, before allowing Berahino to depart for Stoke for around £20m.
