Tony Pulis has called for a review of the appeals process after Robert Huth picked up a fifth yellow card of the season. Pulis feels it is unfair that his defender was penalised for a foul on Jordi Gomez even though the Wigan player should have been flagged offside.

And he cannot understand why clubs are allowed to appeal against straight red cards but not yellows.

"This is where we really have to look at the system," the Potters manager said in The Sun.

"How can it be that a player is punished for something that happened when the game should have been stopped?

"It seems odd that you can appeal against a more serious offence that's punished with a red card but not a less serious one that can be just as big a mistake by the officials.

"I think the issue has been highlighted by Craig Bellamy's sending-off for Manchester City.

"He's been shown a second yellow card for diving, when he was actually fouled and yet can't appeal because it wasn't a straight red."
