Stoke boss Lambert would love to have '26 Joe Allen's'

Paul Lambert says he would like to have 26 players like Joe Allen in his Stoke City squad.

The Welsh midfielder has played an integral part in helping the Potters to remain in the Premier League, highlighted by his man-of-the-match performance in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

And Lambert believes the former Liverpool man doesn't quite get the praise he deserves.

"He's different class, Joe Allen," Lambert exclaimed. "I think he's one of these kids that goes about his business like a passing ship.

"You don't really notice him, but you take him out of the side and you go: `woh, where is he?'

"He probably doesn't get the credit he actually deserves for a lot of the things he does.

"But when it comes to his level of performance, his enthusiasm for the game is infectious and I think he's another one enjoying his football at the minute and he looks great."

"You can't have too many of them like him," Lambert continued. "If you have 26 Joe Allens you won't go far wrong. The way he is as a footballer and a guy... top player."
