Stoke boss Hughes to Butland: Don't do a Begovic!

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has advised City keeper Jack Butland not to follow the same path as his predecessor Asmir Begovic.

Begovic has failed to knock Thibuat Courtois out of the number one position at Chelsea since moving to Stamford Bridge last summer.

24-year old Butland has recently returned to the Stoke starting line up after having a year off with an ankle injury, and there is speculation that Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, who are all in the market for a new goalkeeper, could turn their sight's to the England international.

Speaking about Butland's situation, Hughes believes Butland could endanger his progression if he moved to a bigger club.

"Jack knows what he's got here. He's an established keeper at a good Premier League club," said Hughes.

"The speculation was there before Jack's injury, now it's just re-surfaced and people are just possibly jumping the gun thinking that he's back to the level he was."
