Stoke boss Hughes plays down pursuit of Burnley defender Keane

Stoke City have not made an offer for Burnley's Michael Keane says manager Mark Hughes.

Reports suggested the Potters had failed in a £7million bid for the 23-year-old defender but Hughes has played down claims his club is even interested in the Clarets star.

"I'm not quite sure where that's come from," said Hughes when quizzed on Stoke's apparent interest in the former Manchester United youngster.

"My understanding is that is not true."

Keane joined Burnley from United permanently in January last year following an initial successful loan spell at Turf Moor and has been a key part of Sean Dyche's side that sits fourth on the Championship table this seaso
