Stoke City midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri is chasing down a goal scoring record of David Beckham's.
Shaqiri has now hit six consecutive Premier League goals from outside the penalty area - and the Premier League record is held by Manchester United hero Beckham and Blackburn Rovers favourite Tugay with eight, reports The Sentinel.
The Swiss star's current sequence has begun and ended with Newcastle because his first of those half-dozen long rangers came against the Toon Army in 2015/16 with a 20-yard winner at the Britannia - and the last came last weekend with what turned out to be a consolation at St James's Park.
His six goals have come against just three different opponents (Newcastle twice, Middlesbrough and Hull three times).
