Stockport chairman promises all excess funds will go on playing budget

Chairman Alwin Thompson has praised boss Paul Simpson and says all funds generated by Stockport will go into the playing budget. County only came out of administration in June and boss Simpson has gradually rebuilt the squad and guided the club to two wins and a draw in their last three games.

Thompson says the board of directors will support Simpson where possible.

Thompson said: "We cannot praise Paul and his team enough for their truly mammoth efforts in putting together a football structure in such a short space of time, and feel absolutely sure that the football side of the business is in excellent hands.

"Paul has a competitive budget and will work within it, however any extra cash generated from any other source, will be used to strengthen the squad as Paul sees fit.

"The board can assure our fans and commercial partners that the finances of the club are in good order and many league clubs would envy our debt free situation. The club is now in a much healthier position than it was on 17th June 2010."
