Stevenage defender Ryan Johnson impresses Spurs after Man Utd, Watford trials

Stevenage defender Ryan Johnson has impressed Tottenham coaches during a training stint with the club.

The London Evening Standard says Johnson worked at Spurs' Hotspur Way training ground in Enfield last week and completed his stint by playing for the Under-23 side in their 4-1 defeat at Everton on Monday.

The 20-year-old, whose contract runs until the end of the season, has also had stints with Manchester United and Watford, and it is thought Championship club Norwich are interested in taking him on a similar basis. Johnson has made seven League Two appearances for Stevenage this term.

It is believed that both Spurs and Johnson thought the week went well, although it is important to note he was working only with the clubs' fringe players, rather than Mauricio Pochettino's first-team squad.
