Steven Caldwell has hopes of extending his stay at Wigan Athletic.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the former Burnley and Sunderland man has been released by the club, however, Caldwell is keen to extend his stay at the DW Stadium.
He said: "I'm basically a free agent as I don't know what's going to happen with Wigan.
"I was under the impression there was the possibility of staying for another year if I wanted.
"But no matter what happens, I most definitely enjoyed the opportunity I had there."
