Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce wants a move to Newcastle United to happen.

The Owls manager, 58, has accepted an offer to manage his boyhood Toon.

Bruce yesterday took charge of the Owls' 3-1 pre-season friendly win over Lincoln - and he was confronted by an angry fan on the pitch.

But after the game he spoke for the first time about Newcastle's interest - and said: “It's in the hands of both clubs.

“We will see what develops over the next 24 to 48 hours.

“At this particular moment, there is nothing really to talk about until the two clubs reach some sort of compromise."
