Sterling recoil impresses Liverpool great Dalglish

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish was delighted with Raheem Sterling's return to goalscoring form during the week.

The talented 20-year old attacker bounced back from his subpar performance against Manchester United last weekend to score a match-winning brace in the 3-1 Capital One Cup quarter-final win over AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Sterling's glaring misses against United could have forced him to go into his shell but Dalglish was impressed by the way he picked himself up and took responsibility in the league cup triumph.

'Raheem Sterling showed his class in midweek, scoring twice for Liverpool after his missed chances in the defeat at Manchester United,' wrote 'King Kenny' in his column for The Mirror.

'If you're a striker, you're obviously happier when you score than if you miss. But I don't think the wee man's confidence has been affected in any way, shape or form.

'I think the goals he scored at Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup reflected the fact that it didn't faze him that he missed so many chances against Manchester United last weekend.

'So the fact he came back straight away in midweek, and got himself back on the scoresheet, is credit to him. The first goal, he was determined to get in there first and he created the opportunity to score.

'He wasn't afraid at all. He won't have liked missing those chances at United, but he wasn't afraid to miss them.

'Raheem is still only 20 years old, so it's unfair to throw it all on him at that age. He had a great time last season and he's picked up again this season, and carried it on.'
