Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling says he is not bothered by the criticism he copped for his much publicised move from Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

At the height of the controversy surrounding his £49million transfer to City, Sterling was booed by England fans while representing his country in June.

However, Sterling is adamant the criticism does not bother him.

"It's about how you deal with it, look at the players like Stevie (Steven Gerrard) and Wazza (Wayne Rooney). They were getting criticised, or were in the public-eye for the wrong or right reasons.

'You block it out and focus on your football and try to do well for your country. The level of football you're playing, you'll get stuff like that.

"There were people who didn't agree with it and everyone has their opinion. They're entitled to their opinion and mine was that it was time for me to move on.

"I'm really stubborn. Everything goes in one ear and out the other. My mum says that as well. If there's something I want to do then that's what I'm going to do, as long as it's not out of control. That's always been my mentality. If I want something then I'm going to go after it and try to achieve it."
