James will leave Real at the end of this season after another difficult campaign for the Colombia captain.
Juan Carlos Restrepo, the player's stepfather, told Súper Combo del Deporte en Cali: "The only thing I want to see is a happy son, a happy son, a son whose happiness is to be inside the field and within what God rewarded him for doing, which is soccer.
"There are many high-level institutions in the world that I think would be interested in having James, surely he will not be short of offers, because he is a top player in the world, who has an impact in any league and club where he arrives, and surely depending on the decisions made with Madrid or whatever James and his group agree with Real, he will surely have new opportunities.
"I really like Spanish football, there has been a lot of talk about going to Atlético de Madrid, I would love it, nice fans and a very nice stadium. I do not know, if it is as is speculated in the media, a reality."
