New Stabaek signing Kornelius Normann Hansen has recalled facing Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk in training.

Hansen left Southampton this week to return home to Norway.

And he recalled beating Van Dijk in training at Southampton as a 16 year-old.

Hansen told VG: "It's pretty common on training, then. Things like that happen all the time, and nothing special was noticed, I think.

"The guys there are good at adapting. But it may not be entirely 'the right thing' to do so. Some people react with being quite angry, but van Dijk took it very nicely."

He added: "I don't regret leaving. I would go to England again ten out of ten times. You get a tremendous football experience and are shaped as human beings. It's one of the best things I could have done, and the three years have been very educational."
