St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson is hoping the signing of skipper John Potter to a new deal will encourage other squad members to do likewise. MacPherson now plans to hold talks with others in the weeks ahead as he attempts to keep the nucleus of his squad together.
"We will get around to speaking to two or three others in the coming weeks," he said.
"It's important that the squad is stabilised.
"John was an important one to tie up because he is the captain and the players look up to him, he leads by example and I was delighted to get him tied up.
"He has probably been our most consistent player this season."
