St Johnstone's Haber eyeing Euro spot after Olympic disappointment with Canada

St Johnstone striker Marcus Haber is hoping his club can gain a spot in the Europa League to make up for his recent Olympics disappointment.

The former West Bromwich Albion youngster was a part of the Canada U23 team which fell short of 2012 London Olympic Games qualification by losing to Mexico 3-1 in the decider.

Even though Canada had beaten the USA in the qualifying group stage, they could not end a 28-year Olympic drought and now 23-year old Haber is keen to atone for that by pushing the Saints into a top-four finish in the Scottish Premier League.

"The Canadian team did well but came up just short. We lost to Mexico which is nothing to be ashamed of," he told Record Sport

"It would have been huge for myself, the team and country to qualify for the Olympics.

"But it's over and I'm looking forward to the last five games of the season with St Johnstone.

"Qualifying for Europe would certainly make up for missing the Olympics. That's the goal for the team now and it would be incredible to get there."
