St Johnstone management team sign new deals

Derek McInnes has handed St Johnstone a massive boost by inking a new deal, reports the Scottish Sun. The Perth boss and No2 Tony Docherty have signed two-year contract extensions to 2013.

The new deals come hard on the heels of their first SPL win over St Mirren.

He said: "I'm delighted to sign this extension. We have always made it clear we felt there was unfinished business here and there is more work to be done.

"I never anticipated it would be a problem. The chairman, Geoff Brown, knew I wanted to extend my stay and thankfully he was of the same opinion. It was just a case of sitting down and getting it done."

McInnes flirted with a top six finish last term after winning the First Division title.

He added: "First and foremost we want to make sure we are an established SPL club.

"Remember we had been out of the top division for seven years. We want to improve year on year to enter the top six and possibly compete in cup finals."
