St Johnston chairman Steve Brown insists the club will do everything in its power to conclude the deal with Ross County for Richie Brittain.
The Saints settled a pre-contract agreement with the 29-year old midfielder in January but he has since voiced his concern regarding the move, suggesting he wants to stay with the Staggies.
However, Brown says St Johnstone are determined to force through a move as they prepare for life under new boss Tommy Wright.
"I've spoken to Roy [MacGregor, Ross County chairman] and Richie but nothing's changed. We have no intention of backing down," Brown said.
"We have a new manager in Tommy Wright but that doesn't change Richie's situation. Tommy wants him here for next season and we have Europa League qualifiers in July.
"We offered Richie a two-year deal in January which he grabbed and we expect him to join the squad in pre-season on June 27."
