St Etienne great Jean-Michel Larque has told Wesley Fofana to stay where he is.

The defender is pushing to join Leicester City before next month's deadline.

But Larque told RMC: "Well done ASSE and well done (coach Claude) Puel. But for Fofana, he made arguments that no one understands.

"I think when you have 40,000 euros left in your pocket at the end of the month, you can support your father, your mother and a few brothers and sisters.

"Anyway, next year it is obvious that he will have a release voucher. AS Saint-Etienne will not have time to turn around to take a quality central defender. When I look at the strength of ASSE and the possible recourse of a departure of Fofana… If he leaves, they will put themselves in danger sportingly."
