PSV Eindhoven fullback Santiago Arias admits he was prepared to leave last summer.
The defender was linked with a move to the Premier League, where Tottenham, Everton and Swansea City were keen.
Arias told Eindhoven Dagblad: "I thought about it in the summer and stood behind those statements. A transfer might be possible, but it has not come true.
"But I won't simply give up. There are still enough challenges at PSV.
"I won't get down, sometimes you need to go to extremes to get what you want.
"Next year, maybe something else will come up, even if it's going to depend on the World Cup."
