Spurs star Kane fires title warning at Liverpool & Man City

Tottenham star Harry Kane has a warning for Liverpool and Manchester City.

As Spurs won the Audi Cup against Bayern Munich in preseason, Kane hit out at their title rivals ahead of the new season.

Spurs are hoping they can show the kind of consistency needed to challenge title holders City and current Champions League winners Liverpool.

"I think so – we're in a good place [taking inspiration from doubters]," the England captain said to reporters.

"As a team, we've learnt a lot over the last few years. A lot of us have been playing with each other now for a long time.

"Of course, we know it'll be tough because the teams around us in the Premier League and Champions League are so good. The fact that we got to the final in the Champions League last year will only give us confidence in the Premier League, because we know we can beat the big teams.

"Consistency is a key thing. It's the one thing we've been missing over the last two or three years: spells where you go two or three months without losing and just build momentum. You go from there. That's our aim. Of course everyone starts the season saying they're in a good place and they want to win but it's down to us to do the talking on the pitch, starting next Saturday.

"We've got to use [our doubters] as motivation. Of course people will look at Man City and Liverpool after the seasons they had to go and do that again but as we know in the Premier League it's not always that easy.

"You've seen over the years the winners' points [total] has been different and it varies from year-to-year. We've got to believe and use it as motivation that people don't believe in us.

"That's what I've done on a personal note my whole career. You have to use that to your advantage. As a team that's what we've got to try to do.

"City have done that now for two years. Every team at this stage is trying to build, get better, have big aspirations for the season.

"No-one knows until past Christmas and we'll go for there. Liverpool and City are going to want to do it again and it's down to us, and the rest of the teams, to try to win more games than we did last year."
