Spurs push to clinch new deals with Erik Lamela and Jan Vertonghen

Tottenham are pushing to clinch new deals with Erik Lamela and Jan Vertonghen.

The London Evening Standard says Spurs are working through fresh deals for their star players and Christian Eriksen is on the brink of signing a new four-year contract worth about £70,000 a week.

The deals for both Lamela and Vertonghen expire in the summer of 2018 and both are thought to be happy to extend their stay at White Hart Lane.

After a difficult start to life at Tottenham, £30million joint-record signing Lamela – who earns about £70,000 a week – has become a key man for manager Mauricio Pochettino and has been impressive at the start of this campaign.

Similarly, Vertonghen, who collects about £40,000 a week, is a vital presence at the heart of a back four that was one of the meanest in the Premier League last season.
