Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is considering a return to Espanyol to boost his defence.
Spurs fans feared the worst when the club spent no money in the summer but Pochettino is already making plans to strengthen in January, says the Mirror.
He is weighing up a move for Mario Hermoso, a £20m-rated defender at Espanyol — the Spanish club Pochettino played for and later managed — with club scouts making several trips to watch the 23-year-old this season.
Spurs face their third game in five days in Saturday's 7.45pm kick-off at Wolves with midfielder Victor Wanyama the latest name added to their injury list with a knee problem.
Pochettino said: “At 7.30 on Saturday, I am usually sat on my sofa with my dog Sansa watching the Spanish league or France.
“It will be strange for my dog. Not for me — 'Where is my dad?' she is going to say. She is beautiful and I am in love with her. A Rhodesian Ridgeback. One year old."
