Sassualo remain hopeful their star striker Domenico Berardi will reject the advances of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year old has bagged 54 goals in 148 outings in his short career.

Spurs attempted to sign the Italian last summer, but Berardi decided against the move and Sassualo director, Giovanni Carnevali, remains optimistic that he'll do the same thing this time round.

"We hope Berardi can make the same choice as last season. That means staying at Sassuolo," he told Premium Sport.

"We'd love him to become our symbol, it would be nice to continue with him.

"Last year we received so many offers, this year there are even more. We hope he will stay, but there are other players in Serie A.

"Whoever wants to stay has to be wedded to the Sassuolo project, so it's up to him."
