Spurs great Hoddle advises Man Utd boss Solskjaer: Tell Raiola to go forth and multiply

Former Tottennham boss Glenn Hoddle has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he should send Paul Pogba's agent a clear message: Go forth and multiply!

Mino Raiola rocked Manchester United on the eve of their Champions League showdown at RB Leipzig last week, declaring his client Pogba's time with the club was over and also having another dig at Solskjaer.

United lost in Germany and were bundled out of the Champions League as a result, with the days since dominated by news around Raiola, Pogba and the player's future.

For Hoddle, Raiola's actions were disgraceful, and he says United manager Solskjaer should never consider working with the Italian again.

Speaking on his podcast, ' The Glenn Hoddle Footy Show', Hoddle said: "It's very, very disruptive and in the politest way I can say this, I would tell him to go forth and multiply!

"It was out of order. There is no way he should be saying those things. If he wants to say something, then phone the chief executive, whoever that is at United, and that will be filtered down to the manager. Talk in a constructive way behind the scenes. What was said was ridiculous."

However, Hoddle also insists Pogba needs to take responsibility. And if the Frenchman wants to leave United, he should be doing it behind closed doors and not through the press via his agent.

He continued: "The player must be strong enough to come out and say 'I may not be playing as well in a Red shirt as I do in a French national team shirt, but that's down to me'.

"If he wants to leave, then that's not a problem.

"But he needs to do it behind the scenes. Go in there with his agent and say 'let's do what's right for the club and what's right for me as a player'."

The former England coach also considered how Solskjaer and United have responded to the controversy and insists the Norwegian has handled it well. Hoddle arguing there's bigger issues in front of Solskjaer than the claims of Raiola and Pogba.

Indeed, Hoddle recalled: "Yes, the same thing happened a lot when I was a manager.

"Listen, if I am going to have a conversation with anyone, whether it's about dropping them from the team or they want to move, I want to see the whites of their eyes. I don't want to hear it through the press. I know some players do that.

"And all you do as a manager is you lose respect for them."
