Tottenham fear Liverpool have edged ahead of them in the battle for PSG Bosman prospect Adrien Rabiot.
The Mirror says Spurs were heavily into a deal to land the Paris Saint-Germain star in a £20million move. But before his transfer to the Premier League could be sealed, Rabiot's father Michel died a few days before the January window closed.
The family decided to put business on hold as a mark of respect for him, with the midfielder's mum and agent, Veronique, declaring that nothing would be done until the summer.
That's when Rabiot becomes a free agent.
Barcelona and Liverpool have already showed huge interest in the France international, and Arsenal would love to join the queue to grab Rabiot.
It all leaves Spurs fearing another major target will slip through their fingers.
