Spurs eager to find Wanyama buyer

Tottenham are seeking a buyer for Victor Wanyama this week.

The London Evening Standard says Spurs may have to lower their £9million asking price for Wanyama as they struggle to find a buyer for the midfielder this month.

Spurs had set the midfielder's valuation at £17m last summer before agreeing a deal in the region of £13m with Belgian side Club Brugge, only for Wanyama to reject the move.

Five months on, and with Wanyama now in the final 18 months of his contract, Spurs' original valuation has almost halved, but it may need to drop further still.

The 28-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Jose Mourinho with his only appearance under the Portuguese coming in last month's Champions League dead rubber defeat at Bayern Munich.

There have been several enquiries for Wanyama – including from two unnamed Premier League clubs – but nobody is yet willing to meet Spurs' valuation.
