Tottenham weren't the only English club targeting Olympique Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

L'Equipe says Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was keen to ferry Ndombele to London before the start of the new season, though OL's asking price proved too rich.

Another English club from the big four of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City or Manchester United were also keen.

Indeed, the unnamed club made a €50m offer for Ndombele, but it was still not enough to convince OL to sell.

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas was determined not to lose the midfielder for the new campaign.
