Spurs captain Lloris: I was all set to leave

Hugo Lloris says he was ready to leave Tottenham Hotspur before Mauricio Pochettino arrived from Southampton.

The Frenchman had experienced a turbulent two seasons after arriving from Lyon and was prepared to move on.

That was until Pochettino replaced Tim Sherwood on the bench in 2014.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday, Lloris told ESPN: "It is quite simple. At that time, after two years at the club, I didn't really like the way things had turned for me here.

“I put a lot of questions in my mind. Then I met [Pochettino].

"As soon as I met him, I knew straight away that he was the right man. He is the type of person that you want to work for, that you want to fight for.

“It is difficult to describe the feeling when you meet someone and that you know he will have a big impact on your career. It is his approach of football, his ideas of football, the man who he is, how he develops relationships and ours is stronger than ever now."
