Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood is delighted with the form of Emmanuel Adebayor under him.
Adebayor has reveled in the departure of Andre Villas-Boas.
"He has had certain fall-outs with certain people," said Sherwood. "We don't really know the background. I'm just trying to make it very obvious that it's about mutual respect.
"If he's showing me the respect, he's going to get it back because as a footballer he certainly deserves it and as a man he's been no problem to me.
"I've felt it at times with other managers - not often - where you feel like you're being frozen out over a personal issue, and that the manager is not working in the best interests of the club.
"I know now that's nonsense. A manager only picks a team to win a game. He is not doing it to keep somebody happy or somebody else unhappy. I've learned that."
