Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino did not mention comments from Serge Aurier about there being little competition for his place in the first eleven.
The right back had previously stated in an interview that Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth were not genuine competition for his place.
But Pochettino sidestepped questions about that interview after Aurier nabbed two assists in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
"I did not see those quotes," Pochettino said to reporters after the game.
"No, I didn't see but you know, if when I talk with him it's always clear.
"I didn't see though."
