Spurs academy boss McDermott delighted with England U19 quartet

Tottenham academy boss John McDermott was delighted to see four of his young players help England U19 reach the Elite round of the European Championships last week.

Steven Caulker, Ryan Mason, Dean Parrett and Adam Smith all saw action and McDermott told the club's website: "I'm really pleased for the Under-19 lads, they played in very competitive matches in tough conditions in Slovenia and came through well.

"Adam was carrying an injury for the early part of that tournament but managed to play 90 minutes in the final game against Slovakia on Wednesday.

"Ryan won two caps, scored a goal and made another in the 2-0 win against Slovakia and Steven made his debut, coming on as substitute against Finland and then being trusted with a start in the second game against Slovenia, which was the key game.

"Dean was also captain in the first game, he scored and won another two caps, so overall it was a great experience for them to go there and be involved in a successful qualifying campaign. I'm delighted for them."
