New Sporting sports chief Costinha has already sounded out Real about the Dutchman's availability.
Indeed, Diario de Noticias says negotiations are well advanced between the two clubs and the transfer will now hinge on Drenthe giving his approval.
The left-sided wing-back has struggled for first team action at Real since his arrival three years ago.
