Sporting Kansas City have signed goalkeeper Tim Melia.

Melia, 26, has previously played for Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA.

"I am really excited about the opportunity," Melia said.

"I had the chance to work with the Sporting KC coaches as a pool goalkeeper earlier this year and Kansas City is a great place where professionals can thrive."

He will compete for a place with fellow keepers Jon Kempin and Luis Marin.

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity to come into a club with a talented staff and team in place to go along with the best fans and facilities in the league," Melia added.
