Sporting Kansas City have named H&R Block Inc. as a first team partner in a new multi-year deal, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. H&R Block join the likes of Sprint Corp and Ivy Funds as one of Sporting KC's biggest sponsors, having previously been a club sponsor at a lower level. No financial terms of the agreement were disclosed.
The agreement will see Sporting KC host an 'H&R Block Night' in March. The event will include a national marketing programme at H&R Block called 'Billion Back Cash Machine', allowing people to use an interactive kiosk to tell a story about what they'd do with a billion dollars, with prizes up for grabs.
The tax preparation company will also give away flags to fans and hold special events on the plaza just outside Sporting Park, the soccer club's home stadium.
Christina Lively, director of brand strategy and integration at H&R Block, said: "We're creating this hyper-local package where Sporting will have player appearances and merchandise giveaways in our offices."
"There are social media activities we're doing solely with Sporting. So it's more than just advertising on the big screen in the stadium. It's getting out into the community."
