Sporting CP open to free transfer for Man Utd star Ronaldo

Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo have been offered the option of moving him to Sporting CP.

The Portuguese club are where Ronaldo got his start in the game as a teenager, before joining United in 2003.

Ronaldo has wanted to leave United all summer, a year after returning to the club from Juventus.

According to The Independent, if Ronaldo can be excused from the last year of his United contract, Sporting would be happy to do a deal with him.

The issue is that United's owners, the Glazer family, are not willing to sell him or let him leave a year early.

They believe his commercial value is too great for the club to allow him to depart without a top class replacement.
