Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes keeps Wolves waiting in Liverpool hope

Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes wants to join Liverpool this month.

Correio da Manha reports the Portuguese midfielder rejected a big money contract from Wolves recently in favour of waiting for the Reds to make their move.

Nunes is holding out for an approach from Liverpool, as he wants to compete for silverware and play in the Champions League, although the Reds remain stubborn on their approach to the situation.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is currently battling an injury crisis.

Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner are Liverpool's only natural central midfielders who are fully fit as things stand, while youngsters Harvey Elliot and Fabio Carvalho can also play there if necessary.
