Sporting CP fullback Porro denies grandfather's anti-Real Madrid claims

Sporting CP fullback Pedro Porro has rejected quotes attributed to his grandfather about playing for Real Madrid.

Antonio Sauceda, Pedro's grandfather, was speaking to A Bola when asked about Porro's future.

"They always call me from the Spanish press to try to know something about his future. I'll be honest: I would like him to stay at Sporting for at least one more year. It would be good for Sporting, which has a system that identifies with him," stated Sauceda.

Asked about the rumours linking his grandson to Real Madrid, Sauceda added, "Interest in Real Madrid? Never! I would prefer Sporting! Men are men, women are women and I am from Futbol Club Barcelona, although the way they plays now hurts me."

In response, Porro, who remains contracted to Manchester City, posted to social media this morning: "Information is reaching me that my grandfather has said that I would never play for Real Madrid. I doubt that my grandfather said this.

"I want to clarify that Real Madrid is one of the best teams in the world, any player would like to play for Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Barcelona or any team this big, it is a dream for any footballer. In any case, now I am playing for the Portuguese champion, which is a great team, and the only thing that worries me at the moment is to continue adding titles with Sporting."
