Spanish Supercup to comprise FOUR teams

Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales is proposing to move his revamped four-team Spanish Supercup to a new slot in January, according to a report by Catalunya Radio.

Traditionally the Supercup has served as season curtain-raiser in August and been contested over two-legs, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

Currently, the Spanish Supercup pits the reigning champions of La Liga and the Copa del Rey against each other.

Rubiales now wants to add the second placed team from La Liga and the losing finalist from the cup to create a 'Final Four' tournament that would potentially be hosted abroad.

The proposals will be voted on by the RFEF Assembly at the end of April.
