Luciano Spalletti has revealed he had contact with AC Milan earlier this season.

However, any move was unlikely as the sacked Inter Milan coach remains contracted.

Discussing rumours Napoli were keen, he told TMW: “I think Napoli made a good decision.

“(Rino) Gattuso is young, an emerging coach who is fixing things. I haven't been contacted by Napoli.

“I have been contacted by Milan, but as you know, I was sacked," he said. “They [Inter] decided to pay me to stay at home and I have stayed at home.

“There was some reasoning and it ended up being like this."
