Southport first-team coach Pablo Asensio has formally applied for the vacant manager's post at Accrington. The Argentine worked at the Crown Ground in the 2008/09 season under John Coleman, who ended a 13-year association with Stanley when he moved to Rochdale last month.
"I received an email from (chief executive) Rob Heys to say thank you for your application and that the club will be in contact shortly. I think it was a polite email.
"I worked as a coach with John Coleman and I enjoyed it there.""Yes, I have applied," said Asensio in the Lancashire Telegraph.
