Southgate won over by Newcastle striker Wilson

Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson is being given significant consideration to make Gareth Southgate's England World Cup squad.

The Three Lions coach will name a 55-man group of players that he can pick from when he settles on his final squad for the tournament.

A total of 26 players will go with Southgate to Qatar for the winter World Cup in November and December.

The Telegraph reports Wilson has a chance of not only being in the 55-man list, but also of going to Qatar.

He could be behind Harry Kane in the pecking order, with Tammy Abraham and Ivan Toney also options for the center forward role.

Wilson impressed in Newcastle's 4-0 win over Aston Villa, which Southgate attended.
